• On Friday 28th October 2016, Jonathon Milne was awarded a Royal Rehab Return2Sport Achievement Award at the Royal Rehab facility at Ryde, New South Wales. This award was in recognition of his Bronze medal win at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. The award acknowledges young people with a disability who make significant achievements in their chosen sport.
  
  Jonathon was the first Australian to qualify in Paralympic archery since the 2004 Athens Paralympics and the first medal winner at Paralympics since Ian Trewhalia won two Silver medals at the 1984 Los Angeles Paralympcs. You can view an article on Jonathon in the latest edition of The Weekly Times, the local newspaper which circulates in the inner western and north shore suburbs of Sydney.

• Jonathon Milne wins BRONZE at the Rio Paralympics with a score of 145 - 142.
  
  Congratulations to Abbey Archery staff member, Jonathon Milne won the Bronze Medal in the Men’s Individual Compound Open at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. He was up against 19 year old Ai Xinliang from the People’s Republic of China and won 145-142. In the Semi Finals, Jonathon was narrowly defeated by the ultimate Gold Medallist, Andre Shelby of USA 138-139. Pics below:
  
  
  

News for the period ending October 21st, 2016

• Our Paralympic Bronze Medallist, Abbey Staff member, Jonathon Milne was featured Thursday on a TV news story in Virginia where the reporter visited the factory of Shrewd Archery and inspected their operation and viewed their products. Shrewd alerted Jonathon to the news item and added that whilst the news did not mention Jonathon's name, Shrewd had told them Jonathon's name 50 times, but at least they mentioned Jonathon's success.
  
  Shrewd is a family owned company where the parent company has been in business for 52 years. Abbey introduced the Shrewd line of stabilisers and scopes to our product range earlier this year and we have found them to be of the highest quality. Jonathon is sponsored by Shrewd who have been most generous and supportive of Jonathon on his road to Rio.
  
  Since Jonathon's return to Australia and to Abbey, he has received quite a lot of emails and some customers calling to congratulate him and view his Bronze medal. Jonathon has been kept quite busy with phone calls, some customers asking for Jonathon to tune their bow, etc. Jonathon is here at our Castle Hill store Monday to Saturday, except Wednesday where, you guessed it, he spends the day training.

• The 2016 World Field Archery Championships (WFAC) are currently being held in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales from 26th to 30th September 2016. Almost 600 registrations were received from all over the world including 125 USA archers. The Abbey Truck with Brian and Ben, set up last Saturday with the help of Jeanette, Kevin and Dan of our Abbey Archery Shooting Team and have worked tirelessly over the weekend. • Last Friday Abbey Archery had a morning tea for our staff member, Jonathon Milne to wish him all the best at the Rio Paralympics where he is competing. Jonathon is the voice many people hear at the end of the line when they call Abbey or if they send an email. Update 10/9/16: Jonathon, currently ranked 40th in the world, has qualified 9th out of 31 competitors and advances to the next round to be held on September 14. His scores were: 339 / 7 333 / 15 38 11 672.
